Every undergraduate student must complete 46–50 hours of general education requirements in addition to 23 hours of biology core courses and at least eight hours of elective course requirements (in consultation with academic advisor).
You can major in Biology in a broad sense or you can major in Biology and specialize in a certain field by taking an emphasis in one of the following areas:
- Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology (EEOB)
- Microbiology, Molecular Biology, and Biotechnology (MMBB)
- No emphasis
Wildlife and Fisheries Science
We also offer a degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Science. After taking some additional classes in consultation with your advisor you may meet the requirements for you to certify with the Wildlife Society (http://www.wildlife.org/) and The American Fisheries Society (http://fisheries.org/).
In the Biology program, you can also earn your natural science secondary teaching licensure.
