Research Field
Research conducted by myself, and the graduate students I advise, focuses on a wide range of ecological issues related to semi-desert grasslands and the population demographics of vertebrates utilizing this vanishing habitat. More broadly, I also conduct research to understand relationships between the human land-use decisions we make as a society and the resulting impacts of those choices on populations of fauna and flora native to the arid American Southwest. While much of my expertise lies within the realm of vertebrate population ecology, I also perform research at the community, landscape, and ecosystem scales.
Courses taught by Dr. Jones include: General Biology (BIOL 151 and 152), Introduction to Wildlife and Fisheries Science (BIOL 110), Vertebrate Zoology (BIOL 307), Wildlife Management (BIOL 405/505), Mammalogy (BIOL 431/531), Ornithology (BIOL 441/542), Landscape Ecology (BIOL 460/560), Conservation Biology (BIOL 513), and Biological Literature (BIOL 582).
