ENMU CDIS Invited Speakers Program
Recent Announcements
- Practicum Supervisor Evaluations - Fall 2008:
Rate your practicum supervisor! All students completing practicum in the fall semester both on and off campus who are enrolled in CDIS 501, 502, 503, 589, or 593 are invited to provide the Program with feedback.
All surveys are confidential. Data will not be retrieved until final grades have been posted. The survey has 10 questions and is untimed. Please submit a separate evaluation for each practicum supervisor and practicum setting. The next survey will be open in the first week of December. Click here to rate your supervisor!
Scheduled Student Meetings

The next Annual Graduate Student Meeting will be scheduled for the first Friday of classes in the Fall semester of 2009 (exact date and time TBA). There will be an hour long break for lunch on your own. Brownies, water, and coffee will be available most of the day on site. Bring your handbooks. (If you are new, handbooks will be provided at the meeting.) This is a mandatory meeting. |
| There will be a weekly Graduate Assistant Meeting each week in Lea Hall, Room 122. These meetings are mandatory for all GAs. Time and day for the Fall semester will be determined at the Annual Graduate Student Meeting so bring your schedules please. |
| Clinical meetings for Fall 2008 will occur once per week at the ENMU Outreach Center. The time and day for the will be determined at the Annual Graduate Student Meeting so bring your schedules please. |
| Students planning to graduate in Spring 2009 should plan to meet with their Special project supervisors before September 30. |
Pending Student Meetings (Scheduled PRN)
- The next Portfolio and Special Project Workshops for CDIS students will be on Friday, September 5 from 9:00 to 12:00 (location TBA). Please contact Suzanne Swift if you have questions.
- CPR training for CDIS clinicians is currently being scheduled. Please e-mail Ms. Nicole Bougie at Nicole.Bougie@enmu.edu ASAP if you need initial certification or renewal.
- The next preparatory workshop for the National Examination in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology (NESPA) will occur in the Fall of 2008. Students who have not yet completed this training but who are planning to take the NESPA in the Summer of 2008 should contact Dr. Adrienne Bratcher for specific scheduling information as soon as possible. Workshop completion is mandatory for all students prior to sitting for the NESPA.
ENMU CDIS Invited Speakers Program
The CDIS Department is pleased to announce the continuation of our Invited Speakers Program once again. Presentations currently scheduled are listed below. Please check back often for new dates and workshop topics.
Fall 2008:
- Ms. Barbara Palantone will be presenting on the signs and symptoms of abuse and neglect. Reporting abuse, the impact of maltreatment, and working with children who have been abused or neglected will also be addressed. Ms. Palantone is a licensed social worker who also serves as an Assistant Professor and Field Director in the Social Work program at ENMU. Time and date are pending.
- Dr. Leslie Paternoster wil be presenting on common procedures used in medical settings, how to work with nurses, and other medical aspects of direct care services. Dr. Paternoster is a licensed registered nurse with a BSN/MSN and doctorate in educational leadership. She further serves as the Program Director for Nursing at ENMU. Time and date are pending.
Spring 2008:
All presentations will be held in the Aztec Room of the CUB unless otherwise specified and are provided free of charge to ENMU graduate and undergraduate students, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, special educators, clients/families, and other interested parties. Please plan on attending these exciting and informative sessions!
