Health and Human ServicesThe Department of Health and Human Services offers programs to meet complex health needs in our society. These programs prepare students for advanced degrees and for work in public and private settings in the expanding fields of speech-language pathology/audiology, nursing and social work. ENMU offers four degree programs through Health and Human Services. These programs are the Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Communicative Disorders, Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Communicative Disorders. Bachelor of Social WorkThe Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program is a two-year course for college juniors and seniors leading to the B.S.W. degree. The Social Work program follows the standards and guidelines of the Council on Social Work Education in preparing students to become competent, caring, ethical, and effective social workers. The curriculum is designed to help prepare students and practitioners for licensure and advanced study. Bachelor of Science in Communicative DisordersThe Bachelor of Science in Communicative Disorders (CDIS) prepares students to earn an advanced degree in speech-language pathology or audiology and to work with clients experiencing temporary problems or permanent disabilities with speech, language, swallowing or hearing. Bachelor of Science in NursingThe Bachelor of Science Nursing Completion Program prepares nurses for enhanced career opportunities in health care and provides a strong foundation for advanced study and specialization in nursing. The program articulates with other BSN programs in New Mexico, and is designed for the working RN who seeks the first professional degree in nursing, the BSN. Graduates of the program are prepared for advanced study in nursing, and for professional nursing careers in their communities. Master of Science in Communicative DisordersThe Master of Science in Communicative Disorders provides for advanced training and certification preparation in the assessment and treatment of speech, language, swallowing and hearing disorders. The Communicative Disorders graduate program is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). This enables students to meet the academic and clinical practicum requirements for the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) granted by ASHA. |
