Languages and Literature

The Department of Languages and Literature provides students the opportunity to master the rhetorical and creative skills of written communication and to build an aesthetic and critical appreciation for literature. A degree in Languages and Literature can lead you to a career in teaching, professional writing or any field that values effective communication skills.

Students seeking a Bachelor of Arts degree in English are required to study a modern language other than English to enhance their understanding and appreciation for linguistic and cultural differences.

The Department of Languages and Literature offers the following programs:

  • Bachelor of Arts in English
  • Secondary licensure in English (For teaching high school English)
  • Graduate Program in English with an emphasis in Literature of Migration
  • Bachelor of Arts in Spanish
  • Secondary licensure in Spanish (For teaching high school Spanish)
  • Professional/Technical Writing
