Every year since 1958 ENMU hosts the Southeastern New Mexico Regional Science and Engineering Fair. Students grade 6 - 12 from 6 counties work hard for several months planning , researching, and experimenting; eagerly anticipating the chance to compete for the recognition and honor of participating in the Science Fair. The objectives of the science fair are to recognize and reward excellence in science, mathematics, and engineering projects carried out by students in the 6th - 12th grades from schools throughout our region.
Science and Engineering Fairs encourage students to take initiative, learn, and become leaders, researchers, and teachers. Participation not only motivates students to take interest in science, math, and technology, but also stimulates excitement and confidence from the recognition and support they receive by parents, sponsors, and judges.
Students compete to win awards donated from local companies, special awards from donors such as the NOAA Weather and Climate NOS and National Museum of Nuclear Science and History, the ability to advance to the state competition at New Mexico Tech, and the chance to win an all expense paid trip to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, compliments of ENMU and sponsors.
The Southeastern New Mexico Science and Engineering Fair is an affiliated member of the Intel ISEF and the Society of Science for the Public. SENMSEF receives donations from affiliated foundations through ISEF such as:
