Frequently Asked Questions

How long will it take to get my degree?
That depends on several factors: the number of credits that will transfer, enrollment patterns and the availability of required classes. In most cases, courses are offered online at least once per year, giving you the opportunity to complete your degree within two years. The rest is up to you.

Can I get credit for my professional certifications (A and P license, pilot license)?
In certain cases, you may receive credit for professional licenses after a thorough evaluation by the aviation science faculty. In all cases, credit for certifications will be limited to 30 semester hours of credit applied only to the technical area of the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (B.A.A.S.).

Will I need to take any courses on campus?
All courses required for either degree can be completed online, which provides the maximum flexibility for you at a low cost.

What is the difference between the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (B.A.A.S.)?
While both degrees are fully accredited and require 128 semester hours of course work, the B.A.A.S. allows students to apply credits they have obtained from other colleges and schools to the technical area (aviation science).

What jobs can I get with either degree?
Depending on your work experience and completed course work for either degree, you can expect to be highly marketable for careers in aviation safety, ground operations and airport administration.

Why should I get my degree at ENMU instead of another school?
Eastern New Mexico University is accredited through the Higher Learning Commission, North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. But it is not enough to be accredited. We pride ourselves on a student-centered approach to teaching and learning—providing our students with a high quality learning experience that equips them to be successful practitioners in the field.
